Artist, Author, Teacher, Musician, Wife and Mother

 Maui’s lush greenery, the brilliant blues of the Pacific and the ever changing parade of colorful sunsets, inspire Dee Russell to pick up her paint brush to capture such breathtaking beauty. What was once a hobby; a side interest to her career as a music teacher in the public schools, has now become a passion that works well with the intent of self express through the arts of Kahana Fine Arts Studio.

Dee now finds the role of teacher a very gratifying one, as pupils forever bring new insight to the beauty around them. Russell also takes time to write, publishing “The Flowers That Softly Spoke,” which features many of her paintings, short stories and verse to inspire others to faith and friendship. Dee’s paintings are now displayed in homes, at Turkey Run State Park and galleries on Maui and in the Midwest.

Dee and husband Don make their home on Maui. Children and grandchildren visit often.
